Connect The Resume Monster to Claude Desktop

This guide explains how to connect Claude Desktop to your Resume Monster account using the Model Context Protocol (MCP). This integration allows you to perform high-level resume optimization workflows directly within your conversation with Claude.

Preparation

Before starting the setup, ensure you meet these requirements:

  • Resume Monster Account: An active account on the platform.
  • Claude Desktop: The desktop version of Claude must be installed on your machine.
  • Complete Resume Vault: Your professional history must be stored in your dashboard.
  • Browser Access: You will need to sign in and authorize the connection via your default browser.

The "Magic Bridge" (What is an MCP?)

If you find the term MCP confusing, think of it as a "Magic Bridge" between two different applications.

Normally, apps live in their own separate worlds. To move information between them, you have to copy and paste manually.   1. Open Claude Desktop on your computer.
  2. Navigate to Customize > Connectors.
  3. Select Add a custom connector.
  4. Paste the URL provided above into the setup field.
  5. Click Connect to start the authorization flow.
  6. Claude will open a browser window. Sign in to Resume Monster and click Approve to grant Claude access.
  7. Return to Claude Desktop. Once the connection status turns green, you are ready to start.

Troubleshooting

  • Authentication: If Claude loses connection, simply go back to the Connectors settings and re-authorize.
  • Data Mismatch: If Claude is missing recent experience, ensure you have saved those changes in your Resume Vault.
  • Unexpected Resume Output: Ask Claude to retrieve the optimized resume first, revise the sections you want, and only then request the PDF or Docx.
  • Download Issues: If a download link fails, verify that you are still signed in to the web application.
